Instrumental Band
John Barry Elementary School offers music instruction on
various musical instruments. Currently, John Barry has one of the highest enrollments in the city's instrumental music program. Instrumental students attend weekly music lessons with Mrs. Caillouette, their certified music teacher. They are given opportunities to perform at school as well as in the community. Many of our instrumentalists are chosen each year to perform in Meriden's prestigious City Wide Music Festival.

Jumprope Club
In an effort to promote and improve the general health and
wellness of interested students, a jumprope club is held throughout the year. Students, under the supervision of the P.E. teacher, Cherlyn Gill, strive for 100 or more uninterrupted jumps. As they break 100, their totals are recorded and they work toward breaking their own records. Children of all ages and grades enjoy this activity!

Special Chorus
Students in the 4th and 5th grades who are interested in
music and singing are invited to join the Special Chorus.
The chorus meets on stage one morning before school each
week, and performs at both the winter and spring concerts.
Students interested in joining should see Mrs. Collin.

Wagging Tales
Students stay after school to read to certified Therapy Dogs. This program has been provided free of charge, thanks to the facilitation of Mrs. Aimee Robertson, 5th grade teacher.
